For all of the excitement and privilege of ministry in the local church, it is important to remember that ministry with, to and for the Body of Christ is accompanied by a unique set of obstacles and temptations. Successful, God-honoring, productive ministry in the church is never just a matter of mastering the requisite body of information and possessing the right set of skills.
Ministry in the local church, whatever it is, is always shaped by the condition of your heart. What are the issues that are at the heart of ministry struggle and failure? What are the protections that need to be built into the life of everyone who is active in ministry of any kind? How do we assure that the message of the transforming grace of Jesus Christ is not only operating in the lives of those being ministered to, but in the one doing ministry as well? Below are some of the issues that we will be addressing. 1. Separationism: Live what you minister. 2. Formalism: Commit to a robust life of personal worship. 3. Isolationism: Pursue personal accountability and nurture. 4. Kingdom Conflict: Make sure you know whose kingdom you're building. 5. Unrealistic Expectations: Be realistic about the messiness of the Body of Christ. Attachments

Bob and Fae had recently come to faith in Christ and were very excited about parenting as believers. The Tripp family was committed to having daily family worship, being at church every time the doors were open - even family vacations were spent at the local church conference grounds! Although sounding ideal, Paul’s family was not without significant struggles, which God used to build in him a desire to see the Gospel applied to the realities of life in a fallen world. God used this early and frequent exposure to his truth to bring Paul to Christ at the age of nine. Paul spent all of his growing years in Toledo until his college years when his parents moved to Southern California.
