Certification/Training
- Briarwood Presbyterian Church in cooperation with Birmingham Theological Seminary provides a 26 week Lay Counselor Training Program. This program runs for 13 weeks in the fall starting in early September and ends early December. Towards the end of January the second 13 week course begins and it terminates the end of April. BTS offers four hours of academic credit for this program. This program will meet the basic educational requirements for NANC certification. Briarwood welcomes anyone within driving distance to consider this training. Students must begin in September. The first semester is concept oriented while the second semester is a practicum.
Those interested may contact asnyder@briarwood.org for information. In August, the BTS website can be consulted for more information and fees. The course may be taken for audit or credit. This program is taught by Dr. Howard Eyrich.
