Brad Hambrick
Chief Editor, Journal of Counseling and Discipleship

Brad Hambrick grew up in Bardwell, Kentucky a small farming community on the Mississippi River. At the age of nine, during the winter revival of Bardwell Baptist Church, he came to grips with the fact that he was a sinner in need of a savior. After high school, Brad attended Union University and had the opportunity to serve at Calvary Baptist Church as Youth Minister/Director of Urban Outreach as he double majored in Christian Ministry and Psychology. From there he attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and completed a Masters of Divinity in Biblical Counseling and a Masters of Theology in Applied Theology; writing his Thesis on “Interpretative Fallacies in Evangelical Christian Counseling” to examine how faithfully the Scriptures were interpreted by Christian Counselors.

Since 2003, Brad has served as a counselor for Crossroads Counseling, (www.crossroadsaugusta.org), a para-church counseling center in Augusta, Georgia. Crossroads seeks to complement and supplement the work of the local church with professional-quality, Christ-centered counseling. Brad is active in his local church, helps to train lay counselors for the local Care Pregnancy Center, and is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society. Brad has been married to his wonderful wife Sallie since 1999. They have two wonderful sons that are the joy and focus of his “free time.”

Cathy Wiseman is a native Dallasite with a few young years spent in the East Texas town of Malakoff.  She has been married for over 44 years and is blessed with two children and two grandchildren.  She has a B.A.and M.A. from Texas Woman's University.  She has been in counseling for 20 years working for several years at two psychiatric hospitals and also as the Program Director for the "Christian Family Unit" at one of them.  She has spent several years teaching at Mountain View College and  Dallas Theological Seminary, as well as conducting workshops and seminars at various churches.  She currently serves as an adjunct professor in the Biblical Counseling program at Arlington Baptist College.

"I have a passion for Biblical Counseling.  After spending many years as a "Christian Counselor", God graciously opened my eyes and revealed that He did not need the "world's wisdom" (1 Corinthians 1) to be "integrated" with His Word in order to effectively change the hearts of His people."

"I learned anew that His Word is sufficient for counseling all His people:  "His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue" (2 Peter 1:3).  I am so grateful God showed me His truth regarding biblical counseling (i.e., sanctification) and that He has allowed me to teach and share with others who desire to learn the same truth."
