Gideon's Army

Dear Friend,

Greetings in the name of our blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I want to personally thank you for your interest in the Association of Biblical Counselors. As a supporter, you not only help us provide access to great resources, offer training to pastors, counselors, and laity, spread the message of Christ in counseling around the world, and associate yourself with a cutting-edge ministry, you also serve as a grass-roots system that stands poised to impact the Church in ways unparalleled in recent years. I strongly encourage you to consider enlisting in what we're calling "Gideon's Army: Campaign 300".

In Judges chapter seven, we read that God used an army of 300 men to overwhelm a powerful enemy that greatly outnumbered them. Verse seven says, "The Lord said to Gideon, 'I will deliver you with the 300. . ." God delivered on his promise, and by His great power, used a mere 300 individuals to conquer a dreadful and massive military.

Similar to Gideon's dilemma, Christian and biblical counselors have been confronted with an enormous army that boldly marches to the drumbeat of humanism and secularism. Evidence of this may be found in a recent ruling by the American Counseling Association who adopted a stance discouraging any licensed Christian counselor from offering counsel to a homosexual seeking to turn from such a lifestyle (even if the individual asks for such counsel). ACA ruled that counseling individuals who want to turn from a life of homosexuality verges on "dubious" ethical conduct. Whether you are a Christian or biblical counselor, this move by the ACA can be interpreted as nothing less than an aggressive advance of humanistic ideology against those who place their faith in Jesus Christ! The days of the Church relying on secular governing bodies such as the ACA to determine moral and appropriate counsel for believers needs to be reconsidered. Christians and the Church cannot afford to sit in silence!

The Association of Biblical Counselors exists to help stem this tide, and bring the work of soul care back to its rightful place: the body of Christ. To achieve our goal, we are searching for 300 individuals who are willing to stand with us, and the greater cause of biblical counseling, by donating $1000 to this ministry to be used wisely and strategically to achieve our prescribed goals. As stated, we are calling this effort, "Gideon's Army: Campaign 300". Should you choose to participate, you will find yourself among 300 soldiers of the Cross who are dedicated to the sanctity of the Word of God as the only source that should ultimately guide the hearts and minds of believers.

To show our genuine appreciation of your gift of $1000 or more, ABC will send you our "Counselor's Prayer" engraved on a beautiful piece of marble (see www.christiancounseling.com for a photo). This will serve as a reminder for you to pray this beautiful prayer for yourself and the army of counselors that your money will serve to train across the globe. Additionally, should you choose, we will post your name and/or organization on our "Contributors" page located on our website visited by thousands of people per month. However, a donation of any amount, greater or smaller, will be enormously appreciated!! We would also ask that you share this letter with others you know who might be interested in taking a stand. Thank you for your consideration, and if you would like to speak to me, contact our main office at 1-877-222-4551.

ABC is a federal 501(c)3 organization which means your donation will be tax-deductible.

"If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ...

...Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all the battlefield besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point."
